I got to go out in a new bay boat yesterday with some friends. It was a 23 foot center console with the 4 inch curb all around it. I didn't care for it, there was a lot of water coming over the sides and not to mention the gallons that would come over the transom every time it was in reverse. Of coarse that's where I put my tackle boxes. There wasn't allot of places to stow your gear. Yeah I had to dump the water out of my 2 tackle boxes 4 times. I would rather run my old boat, it might need a couple more inches of water but I know no water is gonna flood the floor. As far as boats go, it was a pretty rough ride. I reckon I prefer more of a v hull, mine is allot smoother running. And after doing 50mph (wot) all over the bay system yesterday, I'm just fine with mine running 30. In short, I'm more impressed with my old 1977 proline almost every weekend

I have a flat bottom tunnel with low sides and I don't get that much water shipped inboard . I don't go 50 mph either . Having said that , if I had it to do over I would get a high sides .GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO. L, 1 ST TEXAS INFANTRY, HOOD'S TEXAS BRIGADE, C.S.A. : S.C.V.

old salt, I might take ya up on that. It looked kinda like your boat.
I wasn't knocking the boat, I was thankful to get to go out on it with a couple other guys and make some new buddies.
My friend just inherited that boat and a house in bayou Vista. I we'll say that brand new Suzuki 175 is super nice, so quiet. It was cool to be in a new boat with some top of the line accessories. Lol we couldn't figure out the power pole and barely figured out how get to the navigational charts on his gps system. My wife and I are gonna meet up with them next weekend in our boat lol. She don't like the low sides and speed on the water. Says a shark could jump right up and eat her lolGreen grass and high tides forever

If he just inherited the boat, it might take a while to figure out how to run it and not get water in it. I run a Kenner 18' tunnel and have never gotten wet. Never heard of water coming over the sides. At least you got out and enjoyed the day and made some new friends.

The first setup we made was at the causeway, we fished between it and RR. The water was extremely chopped up right there. The waves would come over sides there. The other times it was from putting the motor in reverse.
As far as running across the bay we did have some spray not too bad.
I carried 2 small tackle boxes one with artificial and the other has the leaders and popping corks and all. I'll definitely down size next time. All the running we did that day and the action we had was back about 1/4 mile from bayou Vista, one red 21 inches and 3 plate sized rays.Green grass and high tides forever
