Went out on Shortystillsurfs on the last evening of October to try for one last gig. His boat is pretty freakin' cool (up until then I had only gigged by foot).
The evening started out a bit slow with a couple here and there. Passed on a grebe that was blinded by the lights and came into range of the gig! We moved a few times, picking up three before he found the sweet spot. It was crazy action and we just did circles in one ~20yd area and got our last 7 in about 5 minutes.
Since it was still early we chilled and fished for a while, catching some schoolie trout and drinking some brews.
Matt has an eagle-eye for those flatties. I think I saw maybe one fish that he gigged, and he was constantly slamming that gig down and coming up with nice ones I hadn't seen. Good times!
