I would, and I actually noticed that when I was there. The only problem is that the swim would be hard carrying the gigging gear.

Virginia Point doesn't get worked, much.
If you can get in by car and go under the bridge, maybe, quietly make it to a mt lot and slide in and start working north. The scalloped shore just past the lots is a very productive stretch of shore for the fall run. It's also protected from a north wind.
I've only worked it by boat so I'm not so sure you can just drive up to the scalloped/cove shore line.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBLbrJxGtro
