That fish was gigged. Came in about knee deep water with poor visibility. We gigged four Flounder that night, smallest was 4lbs. Look at the gig marks on the back. One gig went through and the other one bent out causing the scare on the back.

I see the damage, Steve.
Why did you go back in the water with it for a daytime photo op?
And dude, anytime you can see the bottom in knee deep water is good visibility.
A fish that large and shallow is excedingly rare.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBLbrJxGtro
Not that much different than a Karankawa indian hunting the shallows at night with a torch and a spear.

We gigged that night and slept in the bote for about an hour; and then went and caught a double limit of trout before 7:30 am that morning. all those were gigged in knee deep or less water.
I was about 30 yds away when he said "i dont know if this is a ray or a record bay flounder but here we go"..AP walked that flounder about 20 yds to shore before we could see what it was.
one hell of a night and morning.
