I took my kayak out into the surf for the first time yesterday and had a blast. I didn't get a chance to fish since it was my first time with my kayak and I didn't want to be to far from shore on my own, so I was taking it easy. My reentry to shore was an amazing experience that I would like to try again.

I've dumped a few times returning through the breakers, it's fun... until you get sideways and eat a sandbar for dinner.

I've got two ocean kayak, yak boards built for playing in the surf. It is fun. They are 7'6" and weigh 50 lbs. I also take my 13 ft. Prowler trident out there and stand up paddle when we have clean breaks, if it's chopped up, it gets pretty scary out there.

My buddy has a 9' Walden. It's a nice board. I really enjoy my 9'3 McTavish Fireball though in this Galveston mush.
