  • 8/20 - Beach Access 4

Sitting in the truck finishing my coffee. I'll be on and off early today and will post a report when I get home.

Good luck to all this morning.

Still pretty flat but a little sandy today. I could see from my waist down to just above my knee. Maybe 12" to 18" of visibility. Saw lots of bait in the 1st and 2nd guts. Walked in at 6a and fished the first gut hard with no bites. Stepped into the 2nd gut and hooked up on the first cast. Caught 3 keeper specks, 2 more came unbuttoned. About 7a (coincident with the time I started thinking about keeping some fish for dinner) the bite turned off. I saw a guy down from me catch an undersized red but otherwise I didn't see any other action.

I caught all the fish on a white top dog. After 7a, I switched to soft plastics in a variety of colors - morning glory HH, red with white tail Red Killer, Sandy with chartreuse tail Red Killer, etc. Not a bite on soft plastic.

Stayed out until 9a. Wandered down the beach and talked with Reeltime. Enjoyed visiting with him and his son and headed back home about 9:30a. Sorry, no pictures of fish today but I did catch one of Reeltime and his son working the surf.

I just left the same area and the surf is still flat.

8 trout. - 5 with shrimp and popping cork. 3 with TTF hackberry hustler, lime. I threw tops, corky, all sorts of plastics and could only get them to hit the Hackberry. Caught 8 on it but all were undersized but three. A lot of small ones were caught this morning on shrimp as well.

FYI..The shrimp are huge right now and almost a shame not to put on the grill. You do not get many to a quart this time of year.

I will post the picks after tomorrows trip. Headed to the Seawall in the a.m. to give it a try.

I was down the beach from ya'll at Access 5 and you said it dead one. However, the guy next to me and his gf were throwing shrimp under a cork and they almost limited. Enjoyed being out there regardless.
