  • afternoon sporty surf

The gafttop were off the chain and with some i could have won the star tourney.I caught a few trout and watch as some bigger one ripped a treble hook off a broken back corkie as i was attempting the grab.I was lucky i didn't get a hook in the hand.I had a few line burners that took a fatboy and a OG Devil the bigger one!I hooked something that was acting like a lady fish but when i got it in it wasn't.Its body and head were much bigger but the length of body was shorter.Anybody have a clue?My suggestion for the day is to use lighter colors in the surf.Darker color were not getting any hit's.The surf is teaming with life and life is good.

I'm surprised it was that rough. Glad you got out and caught the ChupaPesca.

the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.

Had a pretty big school of rays come past me at 8 Mile...yesterday afternoon the action was a little slow from 2-4, then picked up for about an hour or so. A lady fishing down from me was using light colored gulps and scored a few decent fish. I ended up using a glow/chartreuse small assasin paddle tail for some sandies and 2 specks. Nada on the dark stuff either. Going tomorrow morning for one last go...probably OTW since I have to drive to galvo anyway!

If it smells like fish....you know I've been there!

Maybe a bluefish, they put up a good fight. I've caught a few of them around Galveston bay and the surf the past few weeks. For some reason, they are appearing in good numbers this year.
