Temple Fork Outftters have a new rod series built by Gary Loomis. I picked up one of the salt water series that he is making for them over at Bass Pro in Katy. Awesome rod for $100. Highly recommend it

man Loomis hasn't had jack to do with G. Loomis rods for years. Private investors bought him out a long time ago, just a high dollar production rod now.

I Use a 6'2 med fast Texas Custom Rod with recoil guides. I will post pics later. For a more of a croaker rod I have a falcon costal 7' med fast spinning rod

Can someone hook me up with the rod specs I should be looking at? I fish a 5500 or 6500 Abu reel and throw topwater spooks or spook juniors as well at live shrimp under a popping cork.

I looked at academy for some all star rods and castaways, but there are tons of choices.

            I saw these three:
            Allstar
            ASTISC905SPN
            Spoon
            7'6"
            1
            C
            3/8-3/4
            8-17
            Mod. Fast
            M
            8 + Tip
            ACL PRM-W
            Saltwater Wader
            6'5"
            1
            3/8-3/4
            8-17
            MED
            6 + Tip
            ACL PRX
            Caoastal Special
            7'6"
            1
            1/4-5/8
            8-17
            MED
            8 + Tip

But are they heavy or suitable enough for what I need and will they cast well?

Part of the difficulty in answering your question is that part of it is a matter of taste. Some folks like their rods light action, some heavy.
My preference is for something lighter for throwing topwaters and heavier (medium) for popping corks. If I'm wading I'd rather have a 6'6" but on a boat I prefer a 7'. If I was going to buy only one of the three you listed it would be the middle one. My best suggestion is for you to go into the store and waggle a couple of them around a bit. One of them is bound to feel better to you.

Yeah, I understand. Im going to. I messed with a few, two or three of which had identical specs, but were no where close to feeling the same. Specs are specs, but they don't seem to mean a whole lot. The one you suggested from the list is easily the 'flimsiest' of the bunch, but its specs are right there with the rest....there is one that is 'lighter' than it spec wise, but its definately a beefier feeling rod.

Its like buying boots....11EE is not necessarily 11EE. :P

                  You got it!
The rod riot is going on right now so you could probably pick up 2 for about the same price as one and double your odds of picking a good one!
