Walked in with Chase cac2548 to find no water. Took quite a hike to get to where we could fish but it was worth it. I went out deeper to try to find them and he went to a gut. I didn't have much time because I had to get a crawfish boil ready by 1:30 and still had not gone to the store, lol. Anyway I was walking out pretty quick and really wasn't paying attention. I found a gut so I slowed down and was casting toward some markers thinking it was the gut or a reef. Fished there for about 20 minutes without a bite. Turns out the markers were marking a very shallow spot and I was casting from waist deep to less than knee deep. Then I hear Chase hook up with a keeper trout. A few minutes later he is hooked up again but loses it as he went to grab for it. I start walking towards him and he hooks up again but it popped off. It slowed down so we walked around a bit more running short on time. He was working his corky much slower than I was so I slowed mine down some and nailed two pretty quick. The fish were on the bottom so I switched to a tail and got 3 more, but he lost his mojo and couldn't get it back. I ended up with 5 keepers and he had one, plus the one he should have had. Back at the truck at 11:15 and only 5 minutes late for the crawfish boil. Afternoon bite was probaly better since bait started moving when it warmed up a little and the tide started coming in.
