  • Thursday 8/8 seeing red!!

Good news my buddy finally went out and got his own jetski. Bad news is that means he is probably going to be in my redfish spot all the time now, lol. He also brought his brother in law. We went at first light, and were greeted by crazy low tides. Good for us but bad for the redfish and jetskis. Water was very low and I am guessing we were in about 3" of water back in the back but the skis performed well yet again. Just can't come off plane or it will be a long push back. The reds were thick, hungry and easy to spot with the low water. We had our 9 reds by 9 so we made a move to look for some trout, more reds, made another move, more reds.....I know there are no fish in Chocolate but yesterday I think there were only reds and no trout in West. I caught at least 20 reds that would have kept. They ranged from 21"-27 3/4". The longest one wasn't the fattest but would have made a great tourney red. Taking the wife out gigging this weekend so the reds will get the weekend off.

Wow ! That's a lot of catching , what a hoot . So , you come off plane in enough water to float . Then what ? Do you wade or pole around ? How do you not spook the fish ?

I come off plane in a back channel that is still even knee deep. That way when I am done I can hop back up on plane in the channel and get back out with no problems. I wade.
