Hit Sea Wolf this morning (friday 10/25) with a buddy. Started at sunup wading the Galveston Ship Channel, lots of piggies harassing. Using gulp, kept loosing tails. But we caught several nice sized golden croakers.
Later, we moved over to the flats between Sea Wolf and the Selma. Waded down past everyone and fished there for another hour or so without a bite.
Went back to the truck and got some small hooks, then returned to the Ship Channel side to play with the croakers some more, because at least they were biting. Had several gulps with no tails, so we broke them into bite sized chunks and rigged them up carolina style. After just a few minutes, I hooked up with a flounder! It was only a potato chip, but pretty amusing. We continued to fish the Ship Channel for a while and ended up with about 10 flounder in the net, and had several more spit the hook. Only 2 keepers, 16" & 17", but it was still a ton of fun!
Its a little early in the run still, but they are out there. Many people had a fish or two, but didn't see anyone limiting out. Most people were catching potato chips, if noting else.
Beautiful morning, the wind picked up strong at about 9, and the bite really didn't get good until about 10.
