Redfish bite was hotter with the lower tides last month. I was fishing a small shell hump, maybe 6-10" deeper than the surrounding water, and got into limits of reds for three weeks, sometimes catching up to 10/hour. Last few times out they haven't been there. Two weeks ago, when the tides were way out, same day Kenny last reported on, I struggled to catch a couple of dinks in the morning. When the tide started coming back in at noon, I stood by a cut I knew the tide would push thru, and the reds showed up. Caught a limit and release a few more. Last Saturday I took a maybe future SIL fishing, first time for him in saltwater. I've been staying away from fishing on Saturdays, due to the crowds, but this day was perfect, light SE winds, incoming tide, higher than it has been, and not many fisherman out. First spot was slow, few blowups on tops and a couple of trout. Moved off to another spot with more grass, and the trout were eating. Caught them on assassins, rat and paddle tails, plum and bone diamond, and soft mirrodines. Ended up keeping 11, 16-20", with numerous throwbacks. He said it was the most he's ever caught.
