Made a late break for the coast yesterday afternoon...walked in about 5:15, watched the sun go down, and humped it out to one of my favorite pieces of mud/shell. Wind was honking about 18+ with a lot of west to it. Tide was moving (or wind was pushing water), and clarity was good for the wind.
Didn't have a lot of time so I tied on a Pearl/Ch Fatboy and made the decision to stick with it. Caught a 16 inch keeper on my third cast around 5:35. No more bites until around 6:15, 2 around 18, and one nice one in the 22-23 range. More of a wintertime bite, just sucking it up, not much of a bump at all, take up the slack and they were on. Caught the last fish about 6:45, and walked out around 7:15...you could have fished all night. The half moon was brilliant, I could see my wading boots clearly about 18 inches under water. Could only wade about waste deep due to the 1ft + chop coming at me from the southwest, any deeper and it would go over my waders.
Not a bad quick trip, plenty for fish fry. Got a couple other taps and that was it. All fish were hooked good, didn't have any that stuck pull off...the freaks come out at night! OR19
