A state issued personal ID is accepted for check cashing, age verification, etc., etc. A state issued election ID card does not replace a personal (or for that matter a driver's) ID.

Each county has the responsibility to maintain their voter roll.

If you are not on the voter list, within the county of your residence, you may not vote because you are not registered. ID or not.

If you take the option to vote provisionally (because of not being on the voter roll or lack of ID), your vote will not count (99.9% of the time). The voter reconcillation board will (legally) throw out the provisional vote, if it proves out that the voter is not registered in the county & precinct they provisionally voted in, or lack a verifiable ID.

You must also vote in the precinct, in the county, you are registered at, on election day. If you decided to go to another precinct, on election day, not only will you not be on their roll, but if voting provisionally your vote will not count. Reason being is that the ballot is different from precinct to precinct. For early voting, the proper ballot for your precinct is called up when you sign-in.

If you are not registered, you may register to vote at the poll. You just cannot vote that day, but may do so at the next election.

Its all called disenfranchising voters. Thanks for all the updated information. Hopefully this election goes well and things get organized for 2014. With 1.4 million possible voters in Texas not having what is required is a shame. By the way, I like your tag, I remember years ago going into the island and how beautiful the White Oleanders were on Broadway!!Thanks Oleander!!

The ID is the big denominator now when voting. I question your statement on an ID serving more purpose than an election ID card. The ID proves that you are registered and what district and precinct you reside. Use too if you were on the registration list than a check, utility bill, student card, etc was taken as proof that you are the person on the list and were allowed to vote. Early voting and Nov5th will be interesting and I understand that the DOJ is watching closely.
Maybe you can get this guy to come down for the election to monitor the voting along with the DOJ.

          NBPP-what a great "AMERICAN" Group.

By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. Cool pic of El Franco Lee. I kicked him out of a polling place once (really, and the State Attorneys backed me up).

I'll probably show up there Saturday, between chores, to get some raffle tickets.
I'd give up the dinner as an auction/raffle item for the Tourney. Call it the "El Franco steak dinner"

The aforementioned incident happened some ten or so years ago.
