  • Shoukd The Saints move to Philadelphia?

I didnt know Buddy Ryan was coaching down there

They defineatly need a defensive adjustment. Drew gets them a lead and defense gives it back with no time on the clock and no time outs. Why you got to make me relive that sheet?

Im talking about the "slush fund" used for bounty on opposing players like Buddy Ryan had in Philth-adelphia

Most teams do this. This is really old news, but it's getting blown out of proportion due to litigation over injuries. The NFL has to act all tough against it because they're getting sued left and right. They're all about CYA and the Saints will be the skapegoat. We can act as high and mighty as we like, but remember it's the hits we enjoy most, and those guys are already paid to do it. Offering a little more incentive to hit harder . . . . as long as they're clean hits mind you, presents no problem to me. If they're dirty, they get fined.

              suck it ain'ts.

The NFL harshly punished those people involved in the Saints scandal. Steve Wyche says this is a warning to anyone employed by the league to scratch the term "bounty" from their vocabulary.

The only dumb arse in the equation is Roger Goodell. If anyone can stand up and tell me what the Saints did that was truly wrong, I'd like to hear it.

I'll tell you what those dumb *** Saints did, they let it leak out of the locker room.We all know teams have been doing it for years(did'nt Al Davis invent this thing?),but they let it get out and they got caught. So,who's the real dumb *** here?,I believe we all know who that is;actually, who they are.Goodell made an example out of Sean Payton, and it's no different than what Bart Giamatti did to Pete Rose back in the late 80's.Money was changing hands in both situations by people who were knowingly doing wrong(I don't think Pete Rose was even smart enough to know he was doing wrong, maybe that's why he got banned all together). No sympathy for those clowns in New Orleans, you were made an example of because your idiot players could'nt keep their mouth shut.As a former athlete yourself Coach, you think it's okay to PURPOUSLY try and take a guy out knowing your going to get paid for doing so?.That's when it becomes dirty and people like that have no place in the game.Good punishment, but it's not over, the fines will start soon.

This sort of thing goes on from high school on up. When I was in high school, I was rewarded with helmet stickers for making a big hit. This is a witch hunt by Goodell to cover his butt against the lawsuits former players are filing. Newsflash, guys that play in the NFL are PAID to play. If you play on defense, part of the game is punishing your opponent with hard hits. I see absolutely nothing wrong with having a sidepot for making big LEGAL hits. If an illegal hit was made, then the player was fined. I'm all for punishment for illegal hits. That would be poor sportsmanship. But getting bonus money for good legal hits is just like the helmet stickers in high school. As far as the lawsuiters, nobody made them play in the NFL. It's a violent game and that's why it's so popular. I had my back broken playing high school ball. The hit was legal and I never once held it against the guy who whacked me. It's a danger of the game. Don't like it? Don't play.

Now that I've had time to digest it all, I do think the Saints are guilty of one thing. They lied about it when they were asked. There's no excuse for that, and I do think Payton and the other coaches should be disciplined for that. A whole year suspension is ridiculous. They fine players, he and the other coaches should have been fined. All the holier than thou attitudes I'm seeing among sportwriters and fans is ridiculous. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I'd appreciate if people used common sense before pretending that all of this was as evil as Goodell is making it out to be. It's a witch hunt folks. Burn the witch.

I am well aware of what they got. My point is that I cannot see a rational reason for the punishment. Petty crime should not meet capital punishment.
