A buddy of mine busted the skeg off his motor. He'd rather have it welded back on instead of replacing his lower unit. Any suggestions on where to take it?
Thanks,
Curmudgeon
I believe Baumann did mine 20 years ago?? You gotta use someone that knows what they're doing or your lower unit seals and gears will get messed up.
try calling Baumann Marine. (the prop guy)
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.
Baummann or Mike Hoods. Mike Hood has welded several back on for me throughout the years. Some lower motors you can weld a skeg on without droping the lower unit but some require that you drop the lower unit. Mike told me the Mercury Optimax the lower unit needed to be drop before any welding could be done on the lower unit. He said it had sensors inside the lower unit that could be damaged from the heat while welding.
