Carb bowls

I have a 92 V4 115HP. I took her in for some carb issues and when my mechanic removed the carbs he pointed out that the carb bowls were both bowed... I mean if you placed a straight edge on the face you could see quite a gap. I am puzzled as to why both bowls were exaclty the same and what would have caused this? Has anyome ever had this issue?

I had that issue with twin 200 Evnirudes. The mechanic took a heat gun and straightened the carbs where it was needed.
