I am brand new to forum, but not to fishing. I started fishing a year ago. First in the surf, then on piers. I currently fish the 91st street pier in Galveston. I don't have a boat, but wish to have a boat one day when i am older. Currently I am a Junior in High school and have hopes to go to college and then on to business, law or med school. One day when i have the money I will buy a boat. I still consider my self new to fishing and I try to procure knowledge whenever I can, that is my primary reason I joined the forum. My current rods and reels are a Penn Battle 6000 and a Cabela's Salt Striker, both on 8 foot shimano rods. I hope to within a year to have a surf rod and a Penn fathom reel. I prefer braid over mono. I went camping in the Florida Keys this summer and learned a lot about fishing. I try to apply the techniques used their to fishing the Galveston surf, such as using braid and drifting, but I tend to fish the bottom a fair amount.
