I've been doing a lot of fishing in the bayou lately and have been seeing a lot of pretty big gar surface I have a bow-fishing rig and was wondering if there are any body out there that have bagged some big gar out of the bayou or not to even waist my time and stick to the rod n reel for fish love to get the best of both worlds?

There are some good Utubes on Gar fishin! We used a frayed nylon rope and rotten chicken back in the day! Go gettem but be careful teeth are sharp,Have fun!West Bay Sensai...Comment

If you are going to eat it, go get you one. Please don't shoot and kill one just to see if you can hit one. Have a plan of consumption ready to go.
The bayou is full of the two foot variety. I bet the smaller gar taste better than the larger, older gar.Comment
