  • New to all of it

Got a tandem Hobie a couple weeks ago and starting two new things at once - fishing and kayaking. Have a HS boy, MS boy, Elem girl - want them to know more than I did, about fishing and water life. Live in Houston - now have access to a canal house in JB to make this new hobby doable I hope. So me and kids will learn together, and pick up tips, how-to's, and I hope meetup with some of the helpful people I see on this board eventually.
Took the yak out for first time today and no disasters. Good start as far as I'm concerned.

Welcome and you have picked a perfect obsession to get into. That is great to get your kids into it as well. Make sure you use live bait ,especially with the little one. You want to keep her interest up and not get bored.

Welcome- kudos on bringing your kids into it. I've spent a lot of father-son time waist deep in Galveston Bay- wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.
