  • New to the Forum, Enjoying the information.

I have just joined the forum and have enjoyed reading the info on here. I have looked at the forum the last couple years every time the family heads to Galveston for a little vacation. My dads family is from Galveston so when we can get the family all together Galveston is where we head.

This trip I will be towing my El Pescador down. I could use some advice mostly on running lanes. I do not need anyone's secret areas.

We have rented a house in Jamaica Beach on a canal so the boat will stay in the water the entire time. I have three sections I would like some help with on where I should run.

First is running from Jamaica to Sea Isle to grab bait. Can I run the south shoreline and how close should I be too it?

Second is running North out of Jamaica to get to the North shoreline to work guts and cuts. It looks like the reef is basically right there once you clear Jamaica. How should I run it?

Third would be just where to run to get to Carancahua Reef to Drift or Wade it?

Any help would be appreciated. And if anyone sees and older El Pescador with blue carpet and a blue decal feel free to come over and say hi or just to tell me I am doing something stupid.

To be safe follow the PVC pipe boat lane out of JB to the end , take a left same distance out to Sea Isle PVC boat lane to the marina / bait shop . Watch for crab traps / posts on the way and look out for SHELL ISLAND which should be to your right as it is the only reef that you might ground on .

Carancahua reef is right out of the JB boat lane and can be motored over to the north shore or drift fished .
Others here who live there will provide more information or corrections .WELCOME !

Get a HOOK N LINE boat fishing map of West Bay and adjoining areas . That will help a lot . The water depths depicted seem to me to indicate the lowest of low tide depths .
