I am also planning to get out there for the trout but i have heard it is packed with folks...anyone know of a "good" time to go when it is not so wall to wall that the kids can hook up to some fun?

If you go I recommend these.
" Berkly Power Eggs" Make sure you get the "Magnum Floating"
Fluorescent Orange and Chartreuse worked the best for me.
Last year was amazing the way the fish attacked this bait. It was the first time I tried them.

Use a 1/4 or 3/8 slip weight..barrel swivel and add about 18" of #2 or 4 pound leader. Use a #12 or 14 hook that is very thin and lightweight. You want to have your bait float off the bottom. If it doesn't your hook is too heavy.
