  • What type of buddy Bearings do you use on your trailer?

Think that I overfilled the set that came on my coastline trailer when I got the trailer now the grease seems to run out the sides of the "buddy bearings when I try to fill them and the plate does not move out now.

Bearings are still cool to the touch on long runs but the grease seems to now sling out onto rims now after a run.

They may still be fine but I need another set for a trailer at my farm that will not hit saltwater so planned to swap them out.

Is there a better type or brand to replace them with?

I carry a spare hub and set of rings too but if I never have to use them sounds even better.

    Thanks Jim

I have always used the type that just knocks in and never had a problem other occasionally losing one. There's probably better stuff to use but those work for me.

Hopefully Dawg will chime in on this.

He has a cool set of Turbo Lube bearings on his trailer.

I use the Turbo Lube hubs,it is an oil bath hub. I have had them on my trailer for 9 years now & am on my 2nd set of seals. All seals will eventually fail.
          Today is a new day!!

            Reese 1.98" but a 4x4 will get a 2" in.

                My trailer has these:

Pretty easy to change the grease by adding more and the old is pushed out. I did the same thing on an old set of bearing buddies. The rubber cap helps to keep the grease from slinging everywhere. If only they would stay on!

Those are the bearings on my trailer and zero problems in 2 years. I grease them about every 2 or 3 months and it is really easy. The old grease and any water is pushed out each time you re-grease them.

Check and see if you have grease cert in axle, if so don't use bearing buddies. Most coastlines have them, they put the grease between bearing, not just front bearing like a bearing buddy. I change or repack bearing yearly, but my trailer gets dunked 150-200 times a year. The galv caps work great, since I only open them a few times a year and they are $1.50 each.
                    Just my 2 cents worth.
