try this list - it's only about a quarter of the number of guides down here.
Capt. Randy is also a good one, too. I have a ton of more names if ya run out.

Matthew...I know many of these guides and have fished with them for many years. What kind of fishing do you want to do and what kind of guide do you want? I think that Mike McBride is the best on that bay system...really knows how to put you on the fish. If you flyfish I would go with Skipper Ray...he can be a pompus ***** BUT he backs it up with the fly rod. If you want to throw bait and catch big reds then try Mike Perryman...plus he's pretty hilarious and guarnteed to have fun. Another guy that may be training bird dogs only now is Chris LaCross...I have had some outstandiong trips with this guy...young kid maybe early 30's by now but grew up on the water down there. If you cant get these guides directly as Skipper Ray to see who's available as he runs a shop at the old marina and pimps out guides for a small fee...hope this helps and enjoy the prettiest bay system on the entire gulf!sigpic

Just got home from a few days in Padre.
Fished with Skipper Ray on Friday. He's a heck of a guy & guide. We had a great trip, and learned a lot about the area. Looking forward to fishing down there again.
On our first wade, I caught and released 5 trout and 4 reds. Trout were 18-22", and reds were all slot. My strung a couple trout. We were shin to knee deep on grass and sand. All, but two, were caught on bone shedog.
After a quick water break, we decided to drift the same shoreline. I sightcast a few more slot reds with a pearl devil eye. Moved a little further North and caught a few more reds.
All in all, it was a great trip. I recommend Skipper Ray.

He's a good man, a little strong-willed in his younger days but him and Bryan his brother are true pros. The bone colored She Dog Junior is a very popular lure down here. Good report Matthew. Next time ask him about the snook - he's a hunter and can set you on slot 24-28 inchers too!
