What do you all think? Looking to get a generator for gigging lights which one would you go with? I have heard the Yamaha his a little quieter & has been the direction I am leaning... Not sure about the Honda.

Honda is a little bit quieter and the Yammy is a little bit lighter in weight so I guess it is a toss up. I would like to have either. I have a 5800 watt that is not too loud but it is a man killer in the weight department. LOL

I've been shopping Honda EU1000i's for awhile for plugging into shore power and running electronics so we can safely turn the outboards off out deep. From what I've heard/read is the Honda stands up to hard use and getting beat up by saltwater better than the Yamaha, but Yam's have the trusted name. Tough decision, but let us know what you go with Coe.

I chose Honda . . . . . TWICE. I chose it because more places work on Hondas than Yamahas. Both of them were very choice and I miss them both terribly. I'm sure you can't go wrong either way, but I do remember the Yammy was about $100 more. Before you buy from anyone else, check out Wise Sales on the interweb. They consistently have the best prices and they deliver to your door free. (No sales tax either). From 1970-1997, true heaven on Earth existed on the banks of Bayou Cook. If you dont mind buying a used one check on craigslist. I bought a eu2000i very slightly used (only 10 hrs) and working perfectly for $650. Dont add to much oil or it will smoke badly. Should only take like 0.45 qts. And be sure to run it on Eco mode. its say 2000w but really only puts out around 1600W. Iv never had or scene a yam running."The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword"

NEVER run it on "Eco Mode" if you are using power tools or things that need intermittent power like drills and saws. Eco throttle is for constant demand devices only. From 1970-1997, true heaven on Earth existed on the banks of Bayou Cook. "Hey Dad, Thanks for buying the Camp."

Okay guys, as a follow up I purchased the Yamaha instead of the Honda. I bought it from Texas Yamaha just off I-45 in Texas City. Great customer service, if your in the area ask for Gary. He's a great guy very knowledgable. They gave me a 5 year warranty and met me on my price! They pulled it out of the box for me, gased it up, topped her off with oil made sure it was operating correctly then gave me a quick how to start it & how to kill it.

Well, if you ask me, I would say the Yamaha ef2000is is better.
We bought one last october, and it is very reliable.
Check out this comparison I found of the two generators: Yamaha ef2000is vs Honda eu2000i
It goes in-depth and tells you the exact pros and cons of both generators.
The Yamaha runs longer, includes battery cables, its more quite and its very easy to maintain.
The Yamaha is clearly better
