  • Night time fishing docks?

Are there any good lighted docks to fish at night? Or anyone on here with a lighted dock they would let me and some buddies use every now and then?

I haven't taken a cooler down to a dock and just fished the lights at night in a long time. Sure sounds fun.

I'd be interested in any docks from Surfside to Galveston.

    Thanks for any tips.

The bestus is to have friends with a nice boat dock on the water that is lighted, and ain't infested with hardheads and pinfish. The public docks ain't no good. Always ask before you use somebody's backyard dock ... but that's the best way.

Swells, that's what I figured. I'm new to the area so I don't know anyone with a private dock besides one of my extended family member's house in Clearlake.

I was hoping someone on here had a private dock or knew of a neighborhood dock or something that is good for trout at night.

      I'd bring the beer!

get a kayak and go fish green lights in the numerous bayside hoods that have them in the canals or the causeway is good at night too.

+1 on the kayak. Probably easier to get ahold of one than it is someone's night time honeyhole. Plus then you can fish all the lights!

Go to Roballo's house. Wait till about 2:30 in the am. After fishing and hooking his light a few times (he loves when people do that) go knock on his door till he wakes up so you can tell him how you did. And oh yeah, use his cleaning table. Just throw the scraps in the boathouse...

I have two kayaks that I wouldn't mind taking out. I haven't taken them out at night before but it sounds fun. I'll have to buy a couple of pole lights I guess.

Any recommendations on which neighborhood to try first? Is Tiki Island any good?

Drive down to Sea Isle and take a right into the subdivision. Sea isle is about 5 or so miles pas Jamaica Beach on ur right. You have to be a resident to get in but most residents leave the door unlocked and nobody really comes out to check. If it's locked just holler at one of the guys in the first light to open it for you, they will (tell em you left the key or w/e) OR just wait for someone to walk out. It's almost never locked. Me and my dad have been fishing it for years - it's a lighted dock/pier and usually the crowd is low - even on the weekends there are plenty of open lights.

When you get into the subdivision it's on the very right side all the way back. You'll find it - it's past the marina/basketball court/playground area.

It's very good night time fishing for specks and flatties/reds.

BTW tried to fish a pier with the old man, he's not much into wading, and 61st street was trying to charge us $12.00 to get in. Needless to say we left and just fished the pier on 18th st. in San Leon.

I set my hook like I am fishing for tuna even if I am fishing for trout. Call me tuna Joe!

Nah never. The residents of sea isle seem to be really nice.

Pick up my beer bottles!! My light started acting up-gonna need a new one from Lori 77XYZ(?) on here. ballast is going out apparently.

                        Bobcat:

Like scumlord and wiggy said, try the lights in the canals with your Yak. Jamaica is deeper than Sea isle, so I'd do Jamaica Beach-plus more lights at JB. Pirates also has a bunch of lights-many along Grambo drive (Coe's place and Mellwader).

Just be courteous of folks fishing them and also if ya snag a light/cord, cut your line, do not pull it in-two reasons-if you put a hole in the cord, the light will fry and secondly, ya don't wanna move folks' lights nor get electrocuted!!

good luck and good fishing. Brad's right-about 11 pm to 3 am-it's "ON" with fish (and if I answer my door at 2:30 am, expect a "slide and click" sound-similar to Lock & Load a 9 mm)!!

By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. Where exactly do you put in at in most of those neighborhoods? Are there some ramps or put in spots?

Also, when fishing the lights from a kayak, what is the best technique? Stay out and cast to the dock reeling back toward the darkness? Or get up close to the dock and reel across all the lights parallel to the dock?

Cast past the light near the edge and work it back toward you. The edge is where it always seems to happen.

dude tiki lights hold thick, so does the causeway. you dont even need a pole light get 2 game winner hat lights that with work just fine clip it to your bill. i think i paid 1.50 for both of mine.
