Mont helped another forum (Abaco Forum) and yesterday they had a massive server crash. It could be related to the server. You pay for server space - Mont's costs a ton of money - and if it blows up, gets corrupted, or has a virus you have to rebuild the whole structure and import the backup on new RAID disks and such.

Oh well, I kind of like it better over here - them blow-hard urban cowboys are sometimes ornery as heck for no reason, many of them boozers are all hat and no cattle!

I keep 2-3 backups of our server. Each night it overwrites & dl's to my back up drives at my house.

We had a failed upgrade that left us down for almost a day during our upgrade & a few hundred user records were wiped out. It's tough work & yes it costs money.

Thus that's why we run this website on donations. So thank y'all for keeping this site going!

Yeah, but if that means that those people would have to find a new home...which would be HERE! Haha

This isn't a matter of a backup having to be installed. It's a DDOS attack, which simply over runs the servers ability to serve. Thanks for the kind thoughts, Roballo. I didn't realize anyone was forcing you to read there. As Sammie alluded to, it's directed at entire server farms, and because 2cool is on a pair of dedicated servers, it's feeling the brunt of things at the moment. It's just a matter of getting a effective firewall up and then things will return to normal. Of course all this has to happen when it's 101 degrees outside and I have my plate full with my real job too.

Yeah when we upgraded to 4.X we deleted the wrong back up & thus had to go back a few months and load an old user file... I kicked myself for that for months.

Glad your back on if you had posted we can re-link any old posts you may have had through an SQL query.

no worries, Coe. I mostly get accounts on vB forums so the cookie works right. Even with an account, some of them still won't set one that works correctly, but it sure helps. I hope this heat breaks soon, it's been too hot for me to even run the boat, let alone fish.
