  • Definition of a Texas Slam

What is your definition of a Texas Slam ? I have heard several.
My idea of a Texas Slam is catching a limit of Trout, Reds and Flounder in one day.

If that is what a Tx Slam is, then that is a very big deal, IMO, because of the different styles of fishing to catch a limit of all 3.

1 of each. And to me they don't have to be keepers.
Yeah, and all the muchachas they call me big pappa, when I throw pesos their way!

1 of each species - keeper sized

I would call a limit of each a grand slam.

I've always thought it meant one each - redfish, spec, and flounder.
All have to be legal length.

1 of each. Many will say they don't have to be keeper size. I don't care. It's better than a trashcan slam: Sting Ray, Hardhead, and Eel. You catch all dat and you got a trashcan slam.

That's funny. In my house we call a croaker, a skipjack and a hardhead a "potliker's slam"

If you catch a tagged gaff top, you win a '73 Pinto pulling an AMC Gremlin.

Man, dat's messed up. The croaker is a respected species.
