I have a Problem with my 09 suzuki 250 ss overheating. I can run all day at 4000rpm but as soon as i hit 5200 rpm the temp warning beeps and kicks it into idle, I turn it off for a few minuets and it runs just fine. the dealership claims that I must be running it with the jack plate up which is not true. Has anyone else had or heard of this problem?

i had a Yamaha that was overheating, it was salt buildup in the heads?

Might be a weak impeller, and at fast RPM it spreads from the force and makes a better seal against the metal cup, Possibly the Pop-it valve, first I would try to remove the t-stats and run water through the heads and see if any trash comes out, and inspect the t-stats.

I do know that in saltwater you have to have the impeller pulled every year and cleaned or even replaced. Mechanics like Bryan know more about t-stats and whether the onboard computer is giving you fits. Good luck.

I'd suspect the impeller, or poppet.
