So I took my chances at trying to work for flounder Sunday and got two a 22" er and a 19" er both caught on Gulp lime tiger shrimp. While I was working for em I through out my Penn 209 suited up with 65lb braid with a good sized live super oxygenated mullet on there just to see what would hit it. It was soaking for about 15 minutes when BZZZZZZZZZZZ it starts screaming. So I drop my pole and run over tighten up a bit and yank to set the hook. Holy Sh*t, whatever it was was BIG after setting the hook it went ape sh*t peeling off line like crazy, I started gaining on him. At this point I figure there was maybe 40 yrds in the water, and it started peeling off again, and then SNAP!!!!!! Whatever it was got me. Son of a mtvshsnricuabfjckck. sure wish I knew what it was. Anyway I was out there for about 2 hrs, ended up w two flatties and one 21" red. Had fun though.

Westend I saw you a while back, as u were leaving Harborwalk, u were just turning to hit the main road off of the street by the yacht club. I'm always in the same spot when out there at the far back corner where u enter the canals from the bay. I am in a grey Cadillac Deville.

I've had them break 100LB mono leader. 65lb braid isn't much for them especially around any sort of obstruction or underwater debris. It's more probable that your 65lb braid could have worn a groove in one of your eyes on your rod & weakened the braid. I put 65LB braid + as backing for all bottom drop reels.
