Guys,
When was the last time you looked at the Houston Chronicle Sports section for a fishing forecast, report, etc...?
When I was a kid, my dad and I would always turn to the newspaper (any day) for the latest whats biting, then listen to Bob Stephenson Sr. Outdoor Show. Now you have to search with a magnifying glass to find a report for the lower coast??? or wait till Thursday to see a full page and a half of some kind of editorial. Before my dad passed two years ago, we would enjoy Saturday morning 5am wakeup calls to hot coffee and sit back and listen to the morning outdoor show on the radio.
The digital age has really put a dent in the newspaper and probably the radio show.
Sites like this (FWE) are a outdoorsman's dream. What more could you ask for. My dad never used a depth finder, he would just take the wooden paddle and shove it in the water until he hit shell and would say "This is the place". We would catch fish and never really thought about the technolgy behind it. Now we have fishing maps, with gps cords, arial satellite images, sites like this, and power poles replacing the anchor for shallow fishing. I'm sure I'm leaving out much more...
Man, Times have changed... I need to go fishing...
