They do work, especially when a small profile bait is required. Bingo lures were made in Corpus Christi, by Doug English, he started making them in the 50's, the old story is that to establish his lure company and the lure he would give them away to fishermen he met and all he would ask is that they give them a try and when they stuck a fisk they should yell "Bingo" and tell their friends where to get them. I fished them in the surf a lot in the 60's, due to the compact size and weight, you could cast them a long way even in the wind. I had good success on the Red Head/Yellow model in the Queen Bingo size. I am sure that in one of the old tackle boxes in the garage, that there are still a couple of them there.

Just for the hell of it, I am going to grab a Bingo or two from eBay and see if I can't fool a few specks. Got to keep things interesting.

In the 70's we used to wear the trout out with the Bingo's and the Plugging Shorty's, Hump's still have quite a few some new in the package.

The pink and the pink with yellow/black dots worked great, the chrome or gold Plugging Shorty's were also great.

I had a friend of the family die a few years back. When helping the family clear out the storage building we came across 2 totes. One full of vintage mirrolures the other full of bingos. I fish with a few. I like the chartreuse and red on in the surf.

You guys know of any product to bring back the color on a Bingo? I have quite a few in and old tackle box but they look real oxidized/dull.

If you're going to buy one lure pink is a good choice. It's my opinion it's one of if not the best color in the surf depending on water temp from early March through mid-April. I've caught trout at other times on pink but it's been my experience that's when pink works best. Speckled trout will eat mullet and finfish but they LOVE live shrimp. Fish your lure colors based on when pink, white, brown shrimp are being harvested on the shrimp boats. If I had only two colors to fish year round they would be red and white. Strawberry, plum, morningglory, pearl, bone etc. and in some instances throw in some chartreuse or limetreuse. I've always been a fan of painting the throat of my hard topwater (jumping minnows, etc.) with red fingernail polish long before lure companies started doing it on all the baits of today.

I take the hooks and hardware off my old mirrolures I paid 2-3 dollars for back when and clean them with some alcohol and a soft rag. they polish right up.

I took all the hardware off then I polished them with a touch of pledge on a course dish towell.

Came out very shiney. The oxidation just about wipes off.

That was for the show pieces of course.
