They do work, especially when a small profile bait is required. Bingo lures were made in Corpus Christi, by Doug English, he started making them in the 50's, the old story is that to establish his lure company and the lure he would give them away to fishermen he met and all he would ask is that they give them a try and when they stuck a fisk they should yell "Bingo" and tell their friends where to get them. I fished them in the surf a lot in the 60's, due to the compact size and weight, you could cast them a long way even in the wind. I had good success on the Red Head/Yellow model in the Queen Bingo size. I am sure that in one of the old tackle boxes in the garage, that there are still a couple of them there.

In the 70's we used to wear the trout out with the Bingo's and the Plugging Shorty's, Hump's still have quite a few some new in the package.
The pink and the pink with yellow/black dots worked great, the chrome or gold Plugging Shorty's were also great."Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after" ~ Henry David Thoreau

If you're going to buy one lure pink is a good choice. It's my opinion it's one of if not the best color in the surf depending on water temp from early March through mid-April. I've caught trout at other times on pink but it's been my experience that's when pink works best. Speckled trout will eat mullet and finfish but they LOVE live shrimp. Fish your lure colors based on when pink, white, brown shrimp are being harvested on the shrimp boats. If I had only two colors to fish year round they would be red and white. Strawberry, plum, morningglory, pearl, bone etc. and in some instances throw in some chartreuse or limetreuse. I've always been a fan of painting the throat of my hard topwater (jumping minnows, etc.) with red fingernail polish long before lure companies started doing it on all the baits of today.

Came out very shiney. The oxidation just about wipes off.
That was for the show pieces of course.
