  • New West Bay Bait Camp

Published in today's Galveston Daily News Reel Report...

"We have some good news from the West End of Galveston Island. A new bait camp is opening at the marina at Sea Isle.

Capt. Steven Rushing, owner and operator of the shrimp boat Tiffany Leann, is leasing part of the marina for his new business and will be selling live shrimp and croaker along with dead shrimp and squid.

Other provisions needed for a fishing trip will be available as well.

The grand opening is scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend; however, the bait shop is now open and in business.

Rushing said he plans to maintain a good supply of live croaker. For several years now, he has been a well-kept secret among West End guides who depended upon him for their croaker supplies."

Great news. I have his cell in my phone from several years ago-"Croaker Steve". Good guy too-glad he's opening!!!
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. That's good news...haven't had much good to talk about concerning the marina lately. Ryan and I will be in Sea Isle this weekend and will probably talk to him also...I'll even wear the FWE hat/t-shirt

Went down there last Saturday night on my way to the Pass. I posted this on 2cool. Wanted to share my observations:

"Sea Isle ...WOW....I hit this place right at Sunset. Beautiful. Avery's is open and doing a booming business. Couldn't help myself....I had to eat and enjoy the scenery. Ramp is usable. Live bait. No doubt one of the nicest restarauts on the West end. Sea Isle has recoveryed extremely well. The whole neighhbor hood is alive and freindly people were cruiseing around in golfcarts. Wading fisherman and bank fisherman with kids were working the edges. It had a very "Summertime Vaction" atmosphere. If I were going to rent a beach house for a week, this is a neighborhood to check out. Beach access across the rd was clear and usable. Surffisherman were also sprinkled here and there. I have a certain fondness for Sea Isle as I started floundering that area 30 years ago."
