  • Does anyone have or know someone with HPS lights on there boat.

Im asking because I don't but on a Bow Fishing forum the members swear by these lights. They are suppose to be way better than Halogen or even MH's.

Before I make a major investment I would really like to see for myself, first hand what a flounder boat that is running a genny and pushing Hi-Pressure Sodium lights looks like. It sounds like a investment between 500-800 dollars to make the switch so I want to be sure before I pull the trigger.

know anyone willing to give me a ride or at least a look-see?

Bert, I have a lot of experience with HPS lights, ballasts, creating my own lights etc. Let's talk... I'd suggest 70W HPS lights to 150W HPS.

      Sweet!
I assume from your experience with them it truly is the way to light up the bottom in murky water, no?

My dream set up will be 4 maybe 5 150w HPS's with the ballast removed (to save weight and wear and tear to the fixtures) and have the ballast remotely installed into a dry box in the back of the boat. Im not sure wear to stick the Genny but I'm guessing the only logical place will be the back bench seat behind the console, high and dry. I'm going to miss that seat.

I have never played with 120v and ballast and don't want to kill myself but obviously it can be done safely.

I'm going to Canyon Lake for the weekend but will want to talk about this real soon...
