Recent Fish Kill caused by Red Tide?

Ive been hearing on the radio that the recent kill of Shad on the Galveston beach is being blamed on a Red Tide, How serious is this to our fishing in this area? Should we be pretty concerned about it? and What can be done if anything about it! Im not really up on this subject, and would like the Forums input!
