  • Where to fish Saturday AM and PM

I started a thread the other day asking for some tips on fishing in August through September.

Well, a few good friends are driving down here to visit and want to go fishing this weekend. What do ya'll think would be the best spot to fish this Saturday AM and PM to actually catch some fish? I'd feel terrible taking them out and getting skunked. I'm going to put this trip in ya'lls hands so to speak. Looking for suggestions for both the morning too, not just night.

I just got my boat so its not fully rigged up so here is what I'm working with.
    - 14ft Center Console/70 hp motor
    - No trolling motor yet
    - No GPS yet other than on my cell phone which uses google maps
    - No Nav lights - previous owner removed them for some reason. But I could buy some battery operated ones if fishing at night would be that much more productive.
    - We don't mind throwing live bait.

    What do ya'll think?

go to the north jetty, doc at the "yacht club" its not private .. down by where the cruse ships take off. Hit up the cuts on the way out to the north jetty (bunch of old broken peers to your right and sea wolf park to your left across the channel, also the “ship wreck”) fish the gulf side north of the boat cut .. Free line shrimp/croaker .... you’ll see some boat out there for sure. We hit it last weekend. Check your tieds and wind. My phone worked out there, we navigated right to it

    damn I sound cliché

    good luck bro ,

ps. thats not west bay but its a guranteed catch

Don't anchor up in anybodys back pocket though. Wouldn't want to see anyone pull out a Roman candle on ya.

I'm thinking we'll try there sat night. I'm also looking for some spots saturday morning though too.

How's the boat traffic around the causeway at night and are there any obstuctions I need to watch out for?

Yes there are reefs and it can get crowded. You should be fine putting around out there. Try around north and south deer island in the morning. I have heard they are catching them at the causeway in the morning also. I am not real familiar with that area, but I am sure that someone will chime in and help ya out.

Well, my buddy just called and said theyre coming in Friday night and leaving Saturday evening. That limits us to Saturday morning. Any and all tips appreciated. Like, I said I'm going to go with whatever has the most suggestions and let you know how we do.

Nav lights are the law. Removable ones are ok, but ya still have to have them. Warden will fine you if he checks...leave the stern light on while anchored t night.

Any other Saturday morning suggestions? I'm still undecided on where to go.

Part of me wants to go down south and try Bastrop Bay but I've heard its hit or miss. The other part of me wants to try the deeper water in East Bay but I've never been out there before and would just be randomly trying different reefs that are on the gps.

If you go to the causeway you and the fish ain't a bitein you can take them to the sandbar at Moody Gardens to see the Clear Lake 60 yr old guys trying to pick up chicks . It's a fun place if you already got your girl with you . If you don't have a date turn your buddies loose . If you have a small boat and can get a number . You got game . Lots of gold driggers there .

Haha sounds like a helluva time. I've never been over there before. Where abouts is it? Lots of eye candy?

Now my buddy weenied out because he said its going to rain and will come down another weekend. I guess it'll just be me and the girlfriend fishing. Ever had any luck at the causeway in the morning? I'm going to install a new gps/fishfinder tonight and take the boat down early tomorrow morning.

You don't think it will be a little rough around the jetties tomorrow? I'm only in a 14ft CC boat.

I just bought a house in Terramar. I was wondering if there were any sand bar hangouts (lots in FL). Where exactly is the "moody gardens sand bar"? Paul, do you have the #s?
