  • Yamaha 175 Purchase

Well, I purchased an older Yamaha 175 project for my latest flounder boat project. Some of you recommended I use a much smaller motor for weight savings, but this boat will get used for fishing trips other than night-time gigging, so I'm trying to make it versatile. Check out the pics. This motor has been very well maintained. It is apart right now because it needs a new steering arm. Simple fix.

This is a picture of the 16' Donzi it was on last. The motor on this boat now is a 288hp Mercury. Can you say 'Hang On!'?Click image for larger version

Well, I own it now. Picked up all of the parts/pieces last Friday. I've ordered a new steering arm and will be assembling it soon.

It began life in 1984, but has been evolving ever since. The intake and heads are newer models(1992 I believe). Last dyno was 244hp. It was painted to match the boat it was on. We will be painting our boat flat black with white seating and accessories, so it will look good on there.
