  • Do you twitch your rod when fishing for trout in winter?

I was fishing ULM last week and started out fishing slow since the water was so cold. However, after some experimenting, figured out the trout pretty much wanted the same retrieve as I do in the summer, but with a bigger frequency between twitching the lure. Twitching is probably an understatement. You had to give it a good ol' raise your rod tip pointing to the sky with determination pop. The fish were grabbing it while it was dropping. BTW, doing this allowed 2 of us to catch over 70 fish and we left them biting. I heard it was a tough day for others. Funny how fish can be so fickle. Any other retrieve didn't work. Color was a factor as well. Most colors didn't work.

So, I'm wondering how do you all fish (retrieve your plastic)?

Depends on what I'm throwing - what the depths is, how cold it is, whether or not my arm hurts from too much rod twitching at the house..

Determination, adaptation and perseverance = Success!
      Shut up and FISH!!
