  • Pier Fishing

I was wondering if anybody had done some pier fishing lately? I know the beach front has been in pretty good conditions but not sure if anything is biting. Is it worth going for night fishing this weekend?

They hit the reds pretty good on the new fishing pier with Jimmy's restaurant upstairs.

12 lb test, swivel tied to a 25-20 lb line thats about 2 or 3 ft long then a circle hook.
Or add a slip weight above the swivel on your 12lb test line.

Just use a small hook and toss it into an area some use split shot or egg weights in line on a leader to gain casting distance. There is a fine line between using too much weight for casting as it pulls the shrimp past the strike zone too fast. Most free line shrimp with just their main line and a hook little to no weight to let the shrimp naturally fall into the strike zone.

YEPP I agree... usually I just throw any good hook on (whatever ur poison) small split shot and then I usually just let a little line out and give it a good toss...hardly try to cast

I dint even go that night. I called the fishing pier before going so they could give me a fishing report before making my decision on going or not and they told me all that was being caught was sheephead, whiting and annoying hardhead. I'll probably wait until it gets a little warmer before going to the pier.
