  • Ultimate Flounder Boat

A few years ago,my great uncle decided to build his own flounder boat. He took a 16 foot Jon boat and a zero turn lawn mower and mounted the lawn mower on the middle seat with paddle wheels on long axles jutting from the side of the boat. I've never seen anything like it, has anyone seen such a crazy fishing contraption?

I'd need to see a pic to even envision what you're talkin' about.
From 1970-1997, true heaven on Earth existed on the banks of Bayou Cook. "Hey Dad, Thanks for buying the Camp."

A 16' Jon, floating a riding lawn mower + 2-3 guys? That can't be safe.

I have. When we were in high school, a freind of mine built a pontoon boat using 6" PVC pipe for the sponsons. He then took an old motorcycle and mounted it on the back with the rear wheel hanging over the back and into the water. He removed the rubber tire and welded paddles to the rim for foreward propulsion...It didn't work very well. Mostly it threw water way up into the air as it tried to submerge itself. I think his paddle wheel design was lacking the proper thrust angle.

BTW, the guy seen doing most of the welding in my flounder boat build project is that same guy.
