Hey just a thought - the recent MUDLAND Offroad Park in Alvin took off nicely because people are tired of trespassing and getting in trouble in their jeeps. Someone needs to buy it up and maintain it, schedule bands to come out on weekends, make a little bait camp, and charge like 5 bucks per 4x4. People would go crazy for that!

Since I confine my fishing to Brazoria County these days and The Pass on the Galveston side is not as extremely awesome as it was prior to Hurricane Alicia changing it so much, it doesn't personally affect me as much as many of you folks. The final straw for me not crossing the bridge into Galveston County was when the easy access to the Rooster Collins Flats was cut off. That place was always a good bet if the surf was messed up, especially before some developer bought the land there and pulled out all the remains of the old piers (in 1983) that had been built years before. I had a boat once and don't like them. I prefer walk-in wades and it is a shame that more and more, development limits access further and further. 40 years from now, I'm afraid successful fishing will be confined to the higher income people only, those who can afford a boat and/or a guide on a regular basis. Used to a person could access Jumbile Cove, as well as, Caranchua Cove from Jamaica Beach Subdivision with no problem, now days that access is cutoff. Also, years ago, one could access the lower West Bay flats from Lingo's Bait Camp behind Terramar Subdivision and several . It goes on and on with Galveston County Areas. Access in Brazoria County to Drum and Christmas Bays is still pretty good, but those areas are generally not as productive as some of the areas I've mentioned about.

Based on my observations, to think that those who run Texas are not partial to the rich who bribe them all with campaign contributions, is to say we are not paying attention. After all, God did not create beaches thinking they would serve corrupted dollars. Having said that, we must fish when we can, all we can!

Please help me out here, where exactly is the are of the West Bay flats?
I fished them productively on a friends boat a few years back, but I didn't pay attention to where we were going.
I thank you kindly in advance. Perhaps you can email me a map at: renerabril@yahoo.com

I guess what I would refer to as the West Bay Flats (on the south shoreline), is beginning somewhere between Sea Isle and Terramar, but generally in the Terramar Area, and then on down to The Pass. Its the lower West Bay Area beginning where there are no more major muddy coves down to The Pass (at least in shutoutspeak).

And look, in order to still get the best and brightest to run for public office, this may require greatly raising the salary they receive while in office. In the long run it would be beneficial, cost effective and result in better governance, but no extended benefits after they have to leave office, with the exception being former Presidents."Nobody's so poor that democrats can't get rich screwing 'em."
