  • Hubbard Creek Lake...any advice???

I'm heading up to Hubbard Creek Lake soon for a weekend getaway. We're gonna take our flat bottom boat. Any of you guys ever fished there??? I'm looking for pointers. I hear there are big catfish near the dam and some pretty good crappie fishing.

Having never boated there before, if you know of things I need to watch out for, please let me know. They say the lake is low right now.

    Thanks,
    Dennis

I was in breckenridge last weekend, and drove out to look at the lake. There was no water visible from the 180 bridge. I don't know anything about the lake, but I can tell you that it looks at least 30 plus feet low, and the ramps at the bridge haven't been usable in a very long time. I don't know if they have other ramps that are still usable elsewhere.

I'm hearing the water is low, too. We are gonna leave the boat at home this time and just scout the area for our next trip.

There were a few bass boats at the motel we were staying at, so there might somewhere to launch. Calling it low is an understatement. I'm telling you there was literally zero water.

I assume there's something else bringing you up there? Otherwise there are many other places within that same drive time.

This link says lake is at 25% of normal level.

Ya, we're going for a 2 hr appointment. We just didn't want to waste a 7 hr drive(each way). We're always up for a new place to fish. Gonna make a weekend out of it. Go on Friday, come back on Sunday. Already reserved a cabin on the 'water'(near the water, now) for 2 nights.

The Inn is telling us there are 3 boat ramps still open, but they have a small beach on the water that we can fish from. We'll just plan on bank fishing this trip. Maybe night fishing for big cats...
