I just took delivery on a 35 qt Pelican cooler last Friday. We'll being doing some field testing on it this weekend. Don't know how it will do, but the handles and latches are top notch.

Best one is a FREE one!!
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. Get an igloo Max Cold. Take off hinges and throw away. Replace with old belt leather. Take the latch off and pitch it. It won't last more than a few trips, and they really don't do anything anyway. I just leave mine off. If you need one, install a hasp. You just saved yourself a couple hundred bucks and have an icechest that keeps ice as long as the big names.

            Sweet!
I've actually got a MaxCold and I've never had problems with it, but it is kinda small. I've always had great luck with Igloo Marine coolers. They'll only keep ice a few days but I usually don't need it for any longer than that.

I think Pelican is a better deal. It works about the same, costs less, and looks cooler. You might want to check out some reviews here: http://www.besticechest.org

I agree- How much is another bag of ice ? I need the room to hold fish, not ice for 5 days. The price point of getting a super-cooler is what is keeping me from getting one. I would rather get another reel or rod and buy me some $ 0.99 Bucee's ice.

(I believe it is a need thing, if you stay at a remote deer lease then you might want a super cooler. But how many stores do most of us pass that sells ice ?)

110 yeti is what I run. If you keep it closed it works great, but if you run it as a beer cooler then it works just like my favorite cheap igloos.

Just don't fish enough to justify the money for yeti or others like it.

I fish all the time and almost never use ice, but I don't drink beer and usually don't keep fish. An Igloo with a bag or two of ice is usually sufficient for a fishing trip. Yeti's, et al, are just status symbols. IMO

My Igloos do well enough keeping ice . I don't clean my fish until the second day after fishing because I fish all day and get home late . Then the next day I'm too crippled to do anything . I may have to dump an extra ice tray in there during the summer .

For me it's not so much a price thing, it's a wife thing.....She sees $600 for an ice chest and it's game over. That thing would end up costing me another $1,000 in apologies!
