  • Treasure Island Rental Last Week in August - Fishing Tips

Wife, me and Aggie son and Aggie friend will rent beach house on Treasure Island (beach side) last week in August.

Baring any storms where you advice may be to simply leave, does anyone have any tips on fishing the beach front and the pass there for trout. We won't be bringing the boat and will be wading and long-casting.

    Best,

The first advise I have is BE CAREFUL at the Pass!! We have had 4 deaths this year already in that area. Secondly, bring your surf rods with a piece of 3-4ft. PVC, stick it deep in the sand along the water and toss it out in the second gut using a spider weight (light ones if not too rough) and a double drop leader with circle hooks. Get some live mullet or cut bait. I just recommend staying away from the pass and fish down the beach somewhere. We started catching a few bull reds late last August and a few trout even in the rough water.

Another thing you can do is rent a yak and jump into Christmas.
