  • Mangrove Snapper

I went to The Lagoon drain last week to catch some surf bait. First throw and I pull out the smallest mangrove snapper I've seen. Maybe 1.5" long. Threw him back to get bigger and meet me under an oil rig one of these days That area is stuffed with big shad and some larger finger mullet too.

      MJ:

You let that monster go? Wallhanger!!
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

I've caught them in the canals and mainly around reefs/structure and at Jetties. I've only caught a few "keeper" size that were worth filleting. Someone here may have better info for catching them. Good luck and tight lines.

Any structure will have them. Causeway pilings, rocks, piers and walls in the channels. Fish with dead shrimp on a 3 way rig. Right up on the structure. 2' away from the piling is too much.
