  • Water Temperature next week??

The water temperature at Eagle Point reached 43 degrees this morning with the air temperature at 39 degrees.
That was with only one cold night.

Looking at next week in Galveston the forecast shows the air temerature dropping to 34 degrees for Sunday and
    Monday night.

Is this going to be a dangerous event for the trout??
Or can they hold out as long as ice doesn't form.
Just a little worried. This winter seems to be colder than usual.
    Thanks.

Surly with global warming increasing at an alarming rate (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/0..._n_167002.html) and the northwest passage being clear of ice this year (according to Al Gore ) , there is nothing to worry about next week.

At this time there is nothing in the forecast that should have you worried about any sort of fish killing freeze.

Its normally a really strong chill after a period of warm that gets them bad. No time to get to deep water and more of a shock to them. I think we will be OK.

                              Yes sir!
Fish kills can happen when it is below freezing for a day or two. When it gets in the low teens & 20's and never gets above freezing for 24 hours or more
