Any nice places to go by boat in west bay for a new west bay fishermen like myself?

There are 2 really good ways to find spots:
1- Hire a guide and ask him to show you some spots.
2- Invite a fisherman to go out with you and show you some spots.

depends on what you're fishing for. hardheads? trout and reds?

trout and reds-look for slicks along shorelines-and baitfish activity. You'd do well by going to TroutSupport.com and getting their videos. reds like reefs, back coves, structure. trout are near points, drop-offs, channels, sandflats etc. Tide movement is a plus always, so you want some current. Get a Hooksetter map and study it and get on Google Earth and study it.

I also agree with Curmudgeon-get a guide like Greg Francis, Glenn Stevens, Thomas Barlow and have them show you some spots. Just always be courteous of others-treat other fishermen as you would want to be treated-never crowd anyone and never cut off someone-that's a good way to be posted on a website as a "potlickin sunbeach"! Watch out for all the shallow reefs and tricky areas like around Confederate reef, Deer Islands and especially San Luis Pass-the Pass is treacherous to any newbie as well as some old salts-channels change in that area every year!!

You're in Seabrook-there's some good places close-Todd's dump, Redfish Island, Dickinson bay, Dollar Flats, Seabrook Flats, Smith Point and Ving et un Islands by Smith Point as well as Hannah's reef, East bay and Trinity areas.
