  • Big goings on in the lower bays today

Woke up early this AM to find a barge and crane removing the old "Pagoda Palace" from the island between Cold Pass and Christmas Bay. It was the camp with the upturned corners on the roof, hence the nickname. Sad to see it go, but it was falling apart. It was a useful landmark. There's also a crane near a camp on the shore of Bastrop Bay. AND there are 2 large barges in Bastrop Bay not far from there with a bunch of stuff on them. I think I'll go check it out. Can't see clearly what's goin' on with my binoculars.

Fishin' report: LOTSA trout, mostly dinks though.

Sandy they have been at it awhile. Went and checked them out mid week. They are pulling all old pier and camp posts in water. They have been thru Cox and Lost Lake. Pulled all the posts from Clay Banks to ditch and moved into Bastrop Bay. Bastop Bayou looks lots different now.

I wonder if I can purloin any useful material from the barges.

I don't really need anything, but I can smell creosote boards from several hundred feet away. You can always use creosote.

We watch them pull pilings in Mud Cut Friday.

They are loaded down with aluminum and trash mainly. Looked like lots of wire on them. Mainly trash though. We toughed it out over there Saturday.
