  • Motor Problem

I have a Yamaha 115 hp (2 stroke) on my little Century center console. Both batteries cratered on me up in the pass around Thanksgiving. I replaced them and then when I tired to crank the motor but the starter would only hum. So I thought the starter was bad too and replaced it but when I tried to crank it with the new starter, the new starter did the same thing and only hummed. Both batteries are completely charged so I'm clueless.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Check all electrical connections, especially the grounds.

That's exactly what it was - I had a bad positive lead connection to my #1 battery.

Got it fixed and it fired right up.

      Thanks!

90% of every electrical problem I ever had was due to a bad ground.

I had cables actually melt due to resistance and had to replace both cables +-.

By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. Funny how we all become electricians somehow someway when you own a boat. Its a money saver from the mechanic shop that's for sure.
