Took my kayak out this morning to deer island fishing the south one , I finally come up on some trout and land a 17' right when I hit the island and next cast didn't land but I guess you could say quick realeased 1 more after that. Then it was dead for an hour and I missed about 3 more fish right at the kayak that all seemed like keeper trout and caught another 13' but it felt good to see the fish moving! All artificials

Congrats on your fish. As soon as you get the first hit, stick your stick it pin (I mean immediately after you set the hook). Then thoroughly fish that area where the fish hit. If you caught some right at your kayak, you likely drifted over the fish instead of casting to the fish and reaching them on a long cast.
